"John Senior was born in Stamford, Connecticut in 1923, grew up in rural Long Island, New York. He married Priscilla Wood in 1945, and they had three children, Penelope, Matthew and Andrew. He obtained his BA (1946), MA (1948), and PhD (1957) in Comparative Literature from Columbia University. Having taught at Bard College, Hofstra College, and Cornell University he moved to Laramie, Wyoming in 1960 and taught at the University of Wyoming. In 1967 he moved to Lawrence, Kansas where he established and taught with Dennis Quinn and Frank Nelick in the Integrated Humanities Program at the University of Kansas until his retirement in 1983. He authored The Way Down and Out, The Death of Christian Culture, The Restoration of Christian Culture and Pale Horse Easy Rider.The most important things in his life were his passionate and abiding love for the Roman Catholic Church, his family, and his many students and followers."
As I browsed around the net looking for information on him it became apparent that he was a favorite among many of his students.
Also according to 'Find A Grave', he was born in Stamford, Fairfield County, Connecticut, USA, and died in Lecompton, Douglas County, Kansas, USA. They mistakenly list his death as Apr 13, 1999 but you can see by his tombstone that Apr 8, 1999 is correct as shown on this card.
This is a Single card. The front features a colorful art portrait of the Holy Family Jesus, Mary and Joseph.
Card measures approximately 4 ¼ inches top to bottom by 2 ½ inches across.
An Original pre-owned item in GOOD condition. The colors are beautiful, rich and vibrant but the bottom edge is a torn edge that is worn and rough, and the printed reverse looks like they ran short of ink while printing his memory information.
Despite the flaws it remains a lovely keepsake to enhance his ancestry / family tree genealogy records or add to his hometown history center.
A SCARCE Ancestry item very difficult to happen upon, available because someone thought enough of him to preserve it!
