Original vintage luggage and leather industry trade magazine article for PURDY'S FINE LEATHER GOODS of 1151 Elizabeth Avenue, Elizabeth, NJ. Herman Purdy uses editorial type ads in newspapers in his advertising campaign. Before the store even opened, he ran his Purdy Sez ads, in the same preferred location of the newspaper. The first ad introduced him to the public with a full and complete reason why he was entering the business with his picture. He kept up with weekly ads, similar in size and appearance until the store opening. And these were followed up with editorialized ads for gifts, Valentine and Mother's Day Items.
