Butterfly and Berry has always been one of the most popular patterns from Fenton manufacturing! Fantail, Hearts and Trees and Panther bowls all carry the Butterfly & Berry pattern on the exterior; however, few featured the B & B pattern on both inside & out.
This is a master berry bowl and a single serving bowl in iridescent marigold. The master measures 8 ¼” wide by 4 ¼” tall. The serving bowl measures 4 5/8” wide by 2 3/8” tall. Both pieces feature alternating panels of butterflies and berries/leaves. Internally, both have entwined berries & leaves with a central butterfly. The collared base is present on both. Both are three footed with each foot displaying 4 talon claws encompassing a clear ball. Both pieces are crack & chip free with minor wear marks & air bubbles present.
One of the longest produced patterns, extending through most of the classic era. Frank Fenton said that the company inventory lists production extending from 1910-1929. This indicates differing interior designs. Fenton Glass Company records displayed Butterfly and Berry pieces in their 1913 and 1914 color catalogs. At that time they were only being made in blue and marigold.
