Vintage Spurlock-Neal Co.(1800's) Goodnight Darling by M. Schweig Ad & Premium
This is a copy of a picture by M. Schweig of ""Goodnight Darling" which according to the ad from Spurlock-Neal Company on the back of the print, "Assorted copies of these Pictures mailed for One Cent each". From research, I believe this M. would be Morris Schweig who started his photography business in 1889 in St. Louis and is still in business under the third generation.
On the bottom corner are the words: Goodnight Darling, Copyrighted 1899 by M. Schweig, St. Louis. 335
On the back of the print is an advertisement for the Spurlock-Neal Company, Wholesale Druggist and Manufacturing Chemists, Nashville, Tennessee.
Standard Household Remedies that they sold are listed such as::
Rich's Chill tonic
Rich's Great Southern Diarrhoea Remedy
Rich's Dead Shot Worm Oil

Rich's Laxaline
Rich's Worm Kill 'Em

Hodge's Liver Powder
Spurlock's Compound Cherry Hore-hound and Tar Cough Syrup
According to research this company began in the 1860's and was called Spurlock-Neal only between 1887 & 1892.
THIS IS A GREAT FIND FOR THE COLLECTOR OF PATENT MEDICINE, OLD BLACK & WHITE PHOTOGRAPHS, OLD ADVERTISING, ADVERTISING PREMIUMS, ETC.
Photo and ad does show its age. It is ragged around the edges, has some small holes in it possibly from "Sliver-fish??" and ad is yellowed. Black & White Photo color is still good. All of these only add to the "Age" look of this item
