1970’s VINTAGE AMBER & PEARLS BELLY DANCE (BURLESQUE) COSTUME, 6 PC SET
This is a vintage set as described, from the early 1970’s. Was worn by a professional dancer. It is handmade, hand sewn.

Measurements:
Hip Belt is about 34.5" from end to end and about an inch wide. It is basically a piece of fabric covered by hundreds of small white sequins, small and medium size faux pearls with small hanging loops of pearls, and two sets of hanging pearl strands both in the front and back of the belt. The front and back hanging strands are about 24.5" long, and ending on a seed bead. Pearls definitely show wear, as its enamel is peeled on some, and totally gone on others.
Bra seems to be like a B or C cup and measures (from one tip of cup under the arm, to the other) about 20.5”. It is made of a very hard wire structure, covered by a fabric similar to satin (or perhaps its satin indeed). Has straps that run from the side of the bra cups and under the arms, and from the tip of the bra cups over the shoulders. The cups are cut in the shape of a "maple leaf" and all covered by satin-like fabric, brown and ivory pearls, large amber rhinestones, and glass amber spaghetti beads. This piece also shows wear.
Necklace measures 14.5” laying flat, from end to end. Its about 1” wide. Hanging threads are about 18.5” long. The necklace band is covered by hundreds of ivory color small faux sequins, and medium and large faux pearls. It also has 11 big, amber rhinestones to accentuate the choker. Necklace has hook and eyelet closure.
Thong is about 18”, from hip to hip. Has hook and eyelet closure in left and right sides. It is also made of a fabric similar to satin. The main band is covered by a piece of golden velvet, topped by a golden ribbon, covered by medium size amber rhinestones (some are missing). The front part of the G-string is made of a yellow fabric and covered by glass amber spaghetti beads and faux pearls (some are also missing on this piece). The back part of the G-string is covered by the same amber rhinestones with pearl loops hanging from the belt, and three treads and 3 hanging pearl strands.
Arm Cuffs. These were elastic at some point, but due to age of the garment, the elasticity is lost. As the years went by, I guess the original owner tried to make the cuffs fit to her arm, as the elastic was fading, so there are some traces of rivets to the cuffs. The cuffs are basically made of a piece of elastic about 1" wide, covered by hundreds of small ivory sequins and hanging pearl loops on the edges of each band. And there is a large tear drop amber rhinestone in the middle of each cuff, surrounded by faux pearls that at some point in time were golden color.
