Monarda Citriodora
(Bee Balm)
Each lot contains 1000 seeds
Lemon mint is a member of the mint family whose leaves emit a sweet, lemony smell when crushed. Like other mints, the leaves are used in cooking and for flavoring iced tea or lemonade. Chewing the fresh leaves will freshen up breath as well. Reaching up to three feet, M. Citriodora’s purple flowers are attractive to butterflies, hummingbirds and bees, which will help pollinate the plants in your garden. This easy-to-grow plant is drought tolerant and can be grown throughout the country. It is considered a perennial in the warmer areas of the country and an annual up north.
Growing Information:
Lemon mint is easy to grow. Sow seeds on the surface of moist soil or mix with fine, loose soil and scatter outside as soon as the danger of frost has passed. Seeds may also be started in a green house or indoors for an earlier start. Optimal germination occurs at about 60-70 degrees Fahrenheit. This plant will grow well in most garden soil. Keep in a sunny position and maintain good moisture.
