Titled THE AWEFUL COOK BOOK, A GUIDE TO ST LUCIAN COOKING, a fundraiser cookbook to benefit under-privileged children of Saint Lucia. AWEFUL stands for Association of Walking Epicurean Females Usually Lunching. Saint Lucia is an island country in the eastern Caribbean Sea on the boundary with the Atlantic Ocean. This softcover spiral-bound with colorful foods of the country measures approx 6-1/4 x 10” with 74 glossy pages, including the below quoted Introduction with photo of the AWEFUL Women, an oven/weights/liquid measures chart, a page of Some Saint Lucian Highlights significant dates celebrated each year, Table of Contents, and Glossary inside back cover. Cookbook includes stunningly glossy up-close ACTUAL-RECIPE color photos on each food category title page of recipes and, also, of the eye-catching advertisements. Undated but inscription to previous owner is dated 2005.

INTRODUCTION:

This cookbook is the inspiration of the Awful group of ladies who deviated from the cliched “Ladies Who Lunch” to the Association of Walking Females Usually Lunching. And we did walk, too. Up mountains, through the Rain Forest, along rivers, beaches and cliffs - each strenuous effort followed, naturally, by a nearby meal and lots of wine. We began to support the charitable efforts of one of the participants. Mrs Jane DuBoulay, who formed “Pawasol por ti Mamai” to help the under-privileged children of Saint Lucia and Flea-Market Stalls, Tombolas and an “Oscar Night” became regular fund-raising efforts for us. This cookbook is being sold to raise funds for that enterprise and we do assure all who support us by buying it that all monies raised will go to help as many children as possible.
