Two beautiful antique white ironstone plates with paneled rims decorated with raised ogee arches. Large 9.75 inch size. Impressed mark on back of each: Ironstone China G. Wooliscroft. George Wooliscroft operated a pottery in Hanley and Tunstall in the famed Staffordshire district of England from about 1851 to 1864. Plates are in remarkably good condition for their age. One is in excellent condition except for some almost unnoticeable usage marks. The other has 2 factory glaze flaw marks - common in that era - and a few small areas of light crazing with faint discoloration. These plates are both sturdy and decorative and would make wonderful additions to either a dinner table or a collector's cabinet.
