This art print is created from my original painting titled "Good Fortune Cherry Blossom Neko with Catbird ."
Many of my creations originally were given little mini stories, the descriptive "story" for this print reads: "This good natured Cherry Blossom Maneki Neko is accompanied by his Catbird mascot. The catbird as a totem is said to aid in communication and languages. In China cherry blossoms are associated with feminine characteristics and delicacy and as a symbol of love and education. In Japan, because of their short blooming season, they are considered a symbol of transience, associated with Buddhist tradition, to remind us that nothing in life is permanent and change is the only constant. The fallen blossoms are reminders of warriors who have perished in battle. Cherry blossoms bloom in the spring, the season associated with renewal and rebirth, symbolized by both rabbits and eggs, which also ties into self renewal and creativity. Spring is also associated with the direction East, the element Air, the time of day Sunrise and the zodiac signs Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius."
The title of the piece and the description appear on the back of the accompanying note card.
