NO. 1 - Bottle Cap Hot Plate Mat
Vintage 1955
A unique hot plate mat which looks like a bunch of grapes may be hung on the wall as a plaque when not in use on the table. Bottle caps are covered with crochet and sewed together, leaves and a loop stem are added, making a gift or bazaar item.
Use string weight thread and size 7 or 8 crochet hook. Make grapes in purple, leaves and stem green.
No. 2 - Jar Ring Hot Pad
Vintag 1951
Here is a different and unusual hot pad made of rubber jar rings. A pair of them takes very little time or material and makes wonderful gifts when made to match a kitchen or dining room color scheme.
When completed the pad is about 7 inches in diameter.
For a pair of these decorative hot pads you will need two 1-ounce balls of four-ply wool or heavy thread in two colors, 14 rubber jar rings with the ears cut off, and a crochet hook size 00.
