1) Klip dagga (L. Nepetifolia), also known as Lion's ear, is closely related to wild dagga (L. Leonurus). Both are from subtropical Africa. They also resemble each other by having gorgeous bright orange flower clusters. But klip dagga differs in that its seed pods are spiky.Its seeds are also shorter and fatter. The two are also used similarly as medicinals for things like stress relief, fever and cough. Klip dagga is said to be very much the stronger of the two and emits a very skunky aroma that many people find particularly pleasant. It is an amazingly fast grower capable of reaching eight feet or more in a single season from seed! It typically begins flowering in late July and lasts throughout the rest of the summer and fall. In warmer areas, it can be grown as a perennial.In areas where freezing occurs, it is an annual.Cuttings may be taken in the fall, though, allowing the plant to be grown indoors over the winter.
