School Letter Tots Turtle Neck Sweater Knitted Pattern
Vintage 1957
Make and Sell - In Georgia with a Georgia Bulldog, they would sell like hotcakes!
Excerpt from pattern:
CHANCES ARE you’ll want to knit a sweater for a tiny tot during the coming weeks. A grown-up sweater is fun for that two-year old; so why not make him happy by giving him a sweater like his dad’s, or his big brother’s? Turtle necks are popular for the small fry this season! Everyone who knows how to do a simple knit and purl, from 10-year-old Peggy to grandma, can make the slip-on pictured here for a small cost and in a few hours.
Any mother knows that the most economical sweater is the one you make, for children’s sweaters must be washed so often that only hand knits retain all the original qualities of the wool. This ribbed sweater is ideal for the toddler, since there are no buttons, and because its stitch allows it to grow in size along with the child.
Make it of five ounces of white (or whatever color you prefer) sport yarn, for a two- to-three-year size. You will need a pair of standard knitting needles number 4, plus three stitch holders (safety pins will do) and one set of double pointed knitting needles number 3.
