This is a lovely Conch shell Thangka painting from Nepal. It had pretty colors and good detail. I brought it back with me from my last trip to Nepal knowing someone would love to have it. It was painted from natural pains from plants and crushed minerals as well as real gold paint.
The Conch shell is known as the trumpet of victory and symbolizes the spoken word. In the epic writing Mahabharata the conch was blown at the beginning of battle to help ensure victory. Its sound is associated with the primeval and the origin of elements.
No real noticeable flaws and the canvas is in good shape.
The painting will be shipped unframed in a hard tube.
Size: 10.6" tall and 10.6" wide ( 26.9 cm tall and 26.9 cm wide )including border. 8.5" tall and 8.5" wide ( 21.6 cm tall and 21.6 cm wide ) excluding border.
