We offer this exquisite 19th century solid bronze Tazza manufaCtured by "Star Brass Mfg. Co." of Boston, Massachusetts. The company was a very reputable establishment which was well known for the high quality brass and bronze parts they made for sea going vessels since the early 1800s.
Our piece, which dates to about 1870, has a Scallop shaped body with bas-relief sculpted decoration of a Heron devouring a Dragonfly surrounded by tropical foliage. The details are exquisite.
The bowl measures 9 x 11-1/2 inches and 3 1/2 inches tall including it's base. Aside from a few spots of oxidation, it is in magnificent condition!
Our research turned up several others on Internet sites which do not bear any maker marks and are smaller than ours by about an inch across. We are also happy to state that we offer ours at a better price.
