Brooklandville Baltimore MD 1960 St Paul School for Boys community fundraiser cookbook THE CRUSADER COOK BOOK compiled by the Mothers Club of St Pauls School Parish for Boys. Recipes were contributed by Mothers of St Pauls School and St Pauls Parish. See below ALL 87 recipes contributor names, plus a sample recipe. Very good condition.

Community school organization fundraiser recipe book cookbook THE CRUSADER COOK BOOK. This dated 1960 recipe book measures approx 5-1/2 inches x almost 9 inches with 160 pages, illustrated drawings, no index. Technical Advisor M Beach Schultz, 1942 graduate of school, and Frontispiece by Mrs Bert Bader. Officers and cook book committee members named. Pages turn from top to bottom instead of the usual side to side. Recipes are in mostly handwritten format by publisher, pages lay flat when open, bound by durable WIRE spiral, illustrated drawings. Recipes contributors names are included if given - - - and with 87 contributors, including a simple ice cream meringue pie recipe tip from the Pontchartrain Hotel, New Orleans on page 128 and the “original” crab cakes recipe from the Friends School on page 58, you know there is a good variety of MANY good recipes:

Sample Recipe:

Wild Rice Dressing for Turkey
2 cup rice barely cooked
1 cup wild rice; wash, put in boiling salted water, cook 10 minutes
Add 1 cup brown rice, washed
Cook together 20 minutes more. Drain.
Mix in Bowl:
1 cup minced onion
1 lb chestnuts, cooked, peeled, chopped coarsely.
Turkey fat ground or chopped
1/2 teaspoon each: rosemary, savory, marjoram
1/4 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoon salt
cooked rice
Stuff bird.
For CAPON or GOOSE 6-8 LBS, use 1/2 of above quantities
For GOOSE, rub inside and outside of bird with garlic before stuffing.

Yam Pineapple Bake
4-1/2 - 5 cups mashed, cooked, or canned sweet potatoes
1 9-oz can (1 cup) pineapple tid-bits
1/4 cup softened butter
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 lb (16) marshmallows
1/4 cup pecan halves
Combine sweet potatoes, pineapple with syrup, butter and salt. Place half of mixture in buttered 1-1/2 qt casserole. Top with half the marshmallows. Add remaining potato mixture. Arrange pecan halves in center. Cover and bake 30 minutes in 350-degree oven. Top with the marshmallows and additional pineapple, if desired. Serves 8.

(I include ALL names in ALL fundraiser-type cookbooks because I know how frustrating it is to hope and wonder if specific contributors are included in a book, only to find out they’re not, upon receipt.) Covers and pages (only 1 faint spot on page 151) are clean, tight, no tears, no chips, no writing, no dog-ears, no defective spirals. All pages and spirals are intact. Only slight cover wear. Age/sun-toned pages are enhanced by the scanner. Books are NOT from smoke-free or pet-free environment. Please see above 4 supersized images ... they are part of the description.     These books/items are not new unless specified new … they are retro or vintage, and some may come with wear and/or smells. I go to extremes, perhaps, detailing each item attributes and flaws, if any. And I especially include SMOKE and PET clauses in all descriptions, so please don't email me asking if it smells of smoke because you may be able to smell better than I do.
