On Hold A&E Biography - Buster Keaton [VHS]

Movie Description

Charlie Chaplin may have made more money, but Buster Keaton was the most brilliant of the silent-movie comedians. The A&E Biography: Buster Keaton: Genius in Slapshoes chronicles his life from his birth into a vaudeville family through his film career, decline, and rediscovery in the 1960s. Plenty of footage and stills from each period of his life, as well as interviews with Keaton before his death and contemporary figures in his life, show a hard-working, deeply caring man who knew intuitively how to find the humor in any situation. His loss of creative control over his films was the greatest tragedy of his life, one which sent him into a decades-long depression from which he never fully recovered. Fortunately for us, though, his work has been restored and his life documented; otherwise, we might have forgotten this remarkable man who once literally broke his neck to get a laugh.
