It has a wake-up-to-music ALARM feature, 2 built -in AMPLIFIED SPEAKERS WITH BASS BOOST and is battery powered with 4 AAA batteries (not included) and it is TOTAL PROTECTION INCLUDING THE FACE OF THE IPODS. It's the small size of a 3X5 card (actually measures 3 1/2 X 5 1/2 X 2 1/4). This little portable vault has AMAZING sound for it's size with an excellent bass response. IPOD IS NOT INCLUDED. This is an amazing little item for these APPLE IPODS. It provides TOTAL PROTECTION by covering the entire unit while having the controls totally accessible. Great for those who travel because of the PROTECTION, PLUS a WAKE UP ALARM. I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent sound quality (nice bass response as I don't care for tinny sounding music). Even though the newer NANOs can play through their own speakers or earphones, plugging this into the earphone outlet will temporarily disable those speakers and have your music, etc. coming through the sound vault speakers (with a far superior sound to that of just the iPod). I only have 3 of these left.
