Welcome To Collectable-tyme Estate Sales
This is an old tea cup that was made around a 100 years ago. It has gold gilding around the top outside, and inside, plus a gold handle, top rim, and around the bottom. There are tiny roses under the bottom part of the gilding on the outside. This is a fragile, and thin porcelain cup. It has a light blue backstamp with two lions facing each other wearing a crown. The letters P T are located between them. The word Bayreuth is worn nearly away. This beautiful cup has lasted through all these years without being broken. It is in wonderful condition.
It is a greyish white look of porcelain typical of Tettau. The blue backstamp was used after 1902.
The factory was founded in 1794. It was completely destroyed by fire in 1897 but rebuild afterwards. Today the factory is still operational under the name " Porzellanfabrik Tettau A.G.". From the first operation, the factory adopted the "T" as its house mark. After 1885 this mark was modified by adding a lion holding a shield.
Backstamp information: Royal Bayreuth Tettau porcelain factory (Royal Bayreuth) Tettau, Bavaria, Germany (W. Germany) porcelain printed, blue after 1902 ( 1794-present).
Condition: It has wear to the gold handle, and some fading to the inside gilding. No, cracks, chips, cracks, scratches, discoloration or repairs.
If you have any questions please contact me, and I will try my best to answer them.
Measurements: 3 3/8" across the top not including the handle x 2 1/8" high.
Actual weight before packing is 2.2 oz. It will ship at 1 lb.
I always use a new or good box plus plenty of bubble wrap, peanuts, and 2" packing tape. In my nearly 7 years of shipping I have not had a broken piece yet. But, Most of the handling depends on the postal carrier. I place fragile labels on the box to notify the carrier of the contents.
The insurance charge for this cup will depend on the final sale price.
