This wonderful antique porcelain dish is handpainted with pink roses and blue flowers between green trellises, all accented in black on creamy white porcelain. There is gold gilt trim around the scalloped edge.
I believe it dates to 1903 according to the Kovel's Dictionary of Marks. On the bottom is the Mintons mark which came into use circa 1873. It says "Minton's England." The plate is numbered G5947 which I believe is the pattern number, and also has the numbers 5 and 16, all painted on. Impressed in the porcelain is the word "England" and the letter J and a 3 in a circle. According to the Kovels Dictionary of Marks, this dates this piece to January 1903.
The piece measures approximately 5 15/16 inches in diameter and 1 inch high at its raised rim. There are one or two very tiny scratches in the glaze which can only be seen at a certain angle if the light is directly on it, and a very tiny bit of shelf wear on the bottom foot. There are no chips, cracks, crazing, or other issues. The colors are vivid and unfaded and there is a nice high glaze.
I would consider this lovely plate to be in mint condition. It does not look as if it has ever been used. Perfect for serving lemons with your tea, for pins, trinkets, nuts, or candies, or just for display.

Sales are subject to prior sale. All sales are final. Your item comes from a Smoke-Free home. I am not an expert but do my best to describe in detail. Please understand that vintage and antique items, although they may be in great condition, are still not new, and may have the usual imperfections that come with age. Please contact me before bidding or purchasing as I am happy to answer your questions.
I am located in a remote rural area and only go to the bank a few times a year, so I’m sorry that I cannot take checks or money orders. Payment by is due at close of sale. Failure to pay within 5 days may result in negative feedback and item being relisted.
I ship within the U.S.A. only, no APO/FPO please. Buyer pays shipping, handling, and insurance if desired. If shipping and handling charges are not specified, please email me with your zip code and the item you are interested in and I will give you a quote. I do my best to pack well and still keep costs down. Please remember that glass and pottery items can be quite heavy. I will combine shipping wherever possible to save you money, but this is at my discretion, depending on the box and item sizes and weights, for instance I can’t ship delicate porcelain with heavy pottery. Insurance is highly recommended as I cannot be responsible for loss or breakage done in the mail.
