The book lists a copywrite date of 1971, and says this is the second printing, in 1972. The book has 1264 pages so this is a very thick book. The book has 10,000 articles, 206 drawings, 170 photographs, 62 of them in full color, and a hardiness zone map in six colors.
The book jacket says ‘The indispensable guide for every gardener by America’s leading horticulturist.’ The dustjacket says it covers these topics: Trees & Shrubs, Vegetables, Fruits & Herbs, Flowers and Lawns. This book is in very good condition, especially for it’s age. It doesn’t look like it was read or even opened much.
However, please note that there is some writing on the map on the inside front pages. There are a few scribbles in pencil, and a small star drawn in ink at the top of each of the two pages. There is also a small ink star drawn at the top of the title page. There is also a small black marker spot at the top of the first page that carries over to the first several pages of the book. Flipping through the book, I did not see any writing on the pages of the book. There is a small stain on the last page of the book, which is next to the back cover of the book. There is some very minor wear to the corners of the book. The dustcover is not in good condition; it has a lot of wear to it. However, the dust cover is not really needed, as the book cover itself is very attractive. The dust cover has rips, creases and marks on it. This book seems very informative. It is full of information and seems very well written.
