This listing is for a vintage Native American turquoise pendant, with interesting rust colored matrix in it. I bought this pendant from someone who said it was in her family for a long time, and indeed it looks quite old. I have not worn, or polished it since I have had it. There is a lot of tarnish on the piece. The stone is a medium bright blue green with lots of rust colored matrix, and an area of brown matrix, but most of the matrix is rust colored. The stone is on the large side. The stone is not flat in it's setting, part of it rises above the setting. In my opinion, the stone is really a beautiful and unique color, but it has a coating on it that makes it just a little too shiny for me. I do not know the proper terms to describe this, but please take note that this stone does have a shiny coating on it. This might not be a factor for some people, but I prefer my stones less shiny. However, it is still a beautiful stone in my opinion, and I do believe it is on the older side, however I am not an expert. The pendant is not signed and is not stamped for metal content. However, it was sold to me as sterling silver, and certainly does appear to be that. The setting has a leaf, a flower, some elegant scrolls and some raindrops in it. The pendant measures approximately 1 and 10/16 tall, not including the bale, and approximately 1 4/16 of an inch wide, at its widest part. The bale is very, very small on this piece. Only a very, very thin chain with no hooks or loops would fit through it. A jeweler could probably attach a loop to the piece that?s a more reasonable size. The bale also looks slightly off center to me. The bale can be seen in the photo; it is to the left of the flower.
