This late 1940s brooch measures 1 7/16" long. A gray frosted lucite cabochon sits at the birds center. The cabochon has good life and pearly shimmer, which can't be captured by photo. The body is goldtone with clear rhinestone wing and tail accents. Very good condition.
Lucite was invented in 1931 by Dupont, but did not become generally available in jewelry until after WWII. Genuine lucite is prized for its ability to maintain its appearance without yellowing or hazing.
