Moody, cashiered from the British Army, desperate to atone for an act of betrayal. And Colfax: cold, ruthless, utterly devoid of scruples. It was Colfax who conceived the mission: they were to smuggle arms into the Horn, there to train a rebellious Moslem warrior tribe. It was Colfax who abandoned them there to work out their own personal salvations.

Horn of Africa is a novel that probes the very outer limits of conscience even as it tells a superbly gripping tale. Set in a bleak landscape where none of the signposts of civilization as we know it exist, it exposes the dark side of human nature – the side that, freed of all restraints, act without pity, without conscience, without remorse.
