The Dorset Naga is a cultivar of the Naga Jolokia or Bhut Jolokia, which has been recognized by the Guiness Book of World Records as being the hottest pepper on the planet.  With a Scoville heat unit measurement of around 1 million, it replaces the Red Savina with nearly double its heat intensity.  This rating can be more or less depending on climate.  Drier climates with less rainfall will produce hotter peppers.  The Dorset Naga came about through genetic selection in Dorest, England.  Specimens have been tested at 1.6 million Scoville heat units.

Growing Instructions:

Ghost peppers are one of the most difficult peppers to grow, primarily because the amount of humidity and heat they receive will directly affect the heat of the peppers, which are said to be the hottest of all pepper varieties. Therefore, if your climate doesn't mimic their native habitat in India, which is 5 months of humidity and heat, it will be very difficult to successfully grow ghost peppers, as this variety of peppers is very sensitive to over fertilizing, changes in temperatures, and any other forms of environmental stress. To grow ghost peppers outdoors, your growing season, in which the temperature stays above 70 degrees, must last longer than 3 months.

If you want to attempt to grow indoors before transplanting them outdoors when the weather will be more consistent, you can grow them under florescent lights to mimic the humid environment. These seeds can be a little aggravating to germinate, as they take 35 days to germinate in soil that must consistently stay between 80 and 90 degrees and that remains most throughout the entire process.
