INDIANA COLONY WHITE MILK GLASS HARVEST GRAPE TEA CUPS

A set of 3 tea cups in the Harvest Grape pattern by Indiana Glass. These cups are in excellent condition and retaining a glossy finish. I can find very little if any signs of usage. (I have more sets) The picture shows 4 cups but this listing is for only 3 as one of them had an accident.

Cups: Approximately 2 ? inches tall X 3 1/4 inches across the top.

All cups are clean without stains / discoloration and ready to use. No cracks or noticeable damage. The pattern is thick and stands right out.

The Harvest Molds were developed by Colony Glass sometime in the late 1940's or early 50's. Colony Glass was also (and still is) a subsidiary of Lancaster Colony Corporation.

Occasionally old glass may have small imperfections due to the manufacturing process that is hard to see.

Colony Glass continued to produce the milk glass Harvest items through out the 50's. The "Colony Harvest" pattern was obtained most often through the redemption of S & H green stamps in the midwestern states. You received a stamp for each $1.00 you spent and when a book of 300 or so was filled, you could redeem it for merchandise. Colony Harvest was a very popular pattern.

Lancaster Colony (Lancaster Glass at the time) bought the Indiana Glass Company in 1957. (This date is in the Lancaster Colony records). Shortly after this purchase SOME of the Harvest molds were moved to the Indiana Glass Company to be adapted to machine use to increase production. Colony Glass and Indiana Glass were producing Harvest Pattern milk glass items at the same time. The Harvest milk glass items were never sold under the Indiana Glass name. They were always sold under the Colony name.
