Very good story about a girl and her family who lives in Holland. It tells how Christmas was celebrated in their country at that time. In fact they had two celebrated for their Christmas holidays. The girl looses her brothers compass when she fell into the canal. She makes new friends with a family that lived on a barge. Yes Kaatje found a way to give her brother a compass for Christmas.
