J & E Mayer Antique hand painted coffee server pitcher semi-vitreous dark green cabbage roses

Antique J & E Mayer semi vitreous china Heirloom pitcher dating to 1885-1886. J & E Mayer from Beaver Falls, PA, est. 1881, part of the history of producers of vitreous china along with Syracuse, Onondaga & Shenango.

Short spouted hand painted pitcher features a graduated shading of light to dark green with a cluster of 3 roses on the front and a smaller rose on the reverse. The handle design rather resembles a rose branch with leaves and there are light touches of gold trim.

Measures 7.5" tall x 6.5" from spout to handle and holds 16-20 oz.
The interior has pierced holes at the spout, so this may have been a coffee or tea server and the lid is gone.

Great condition for its age. There is some wearing of the gold trim and glaze primarily at the base. There are no chips, only crazing detected is base bottom, interior does have a hairline crack and there is light interior staining. Overall, this would be a great accent piece in a variety of decor styles.

Other Policies

Hello and Thank you for visiting my store. I enjoy collecting and sharing items that I find to be lovely, funny, interesting. Taste is subjective, hence the name mostly awesome stuff. I lean towards vintage textiles, pottery, glass, kitchen/dining items. I hope you will find my items worth viewing and add me to your favorite shops list.
If an item is received in damaged condition, buyer needs to keep item intact "as received" and provide photos for the insurance claim. If the item is lost in transit, it is covered under the insurance. Items lost after Delivery Confirmation are not. If desiring a signature confirmation to ensure receipt of item, buyer will need to message that request and add $2.35 to payment.

Vintage items are often damaged by use of microwaves, dishwashers and harsh chemicals. I recommend hand washing be used to protect your vintage items.
