Culinary uses
Cymbopogon citratus is abundant in the Philippines and Indonesia where it is known as tanglad or sereh, respectively. Its fragrant leaves are traditionally used in cooking, particularly for lechon and roasted chicken.
The plant is used as a fragrance and flavoring agent and in folk medicine as an antispasmodic, hypotensive, anticonvulsant, analgesic, antiemetic, antitussive, antirheumatic, antiseptic and treatment for nervous and gastrointestinal disorders and fevers.
While most of the studies to date on lemongrass tea are small-scale or lab-based, results show that lemongrass tea can help to improve oral health, lower cholesterol, and relieve bloating. In addition to drinking lemongrass as a tea, people can add the herb into dishes such as soups and stir fries.
Don't buy dried out bulbs and roots! Buying them fresh and alive saves you time and money!
100 % organic - wild grown, The first time this plant is touched by humans is when I hike to the rear of our property and collect it from our wild patches for your order .
The best way to get your roots to take. Once you receive them put them in water, then dip the wet side in rooting solution or hormone, or use a rooting gel without water. We use Clonex. Then place them in sterile soil (like bagged top soil) and place them under low light (LED grow lights work best) if not place outside where they will get about 2 hours of light a day. For cold or dry climates use a humidity dome. (A clear 2 liter cut in half to hold in humidity) and perhaps a heating pad but careful not to overheat! Always keep soil moist but drained and in under 30 days you will have rooted and sprouted plants. Feel free to message anytime. -Jill
