This is the fiery, outspoken novel of free love, pot smoking, and outrageous acts of violence against the Establishment.  Set in 1906, the story gets down to cases immediately with behavior that proves the current Hippie movement is nothing new.

Noah Green, a young college professor, is the red-bearded, hot-blooded, oversexed hero of this story of anarchists and revolutionaries.  Quick tempered and totally unafraid to say or do what he believes in, Noah is dismissed from a quiet Midwestern college faculty on a charge of moral turpitude.  The reason:  Millie, a beautiful blonde belly dancer.

Millie insinuates her way into Noah's bed and his life.  After his dismissal from the faculty, Noah and Millie journey to New York, their destination a hostel run for the IWW, the notorious "Wobblies," who are one part violence, one part free-love, and one part short-fuse.  Noah and Millie careen through New York at a wild, lascivious pace, meeting violence, famous people, and sexual excess.

Filled with love making, protest strikes, and police brutality, this fast-paced story takes Noah into the New York jails, the sand hog tunnels under the city, and the clandestine workers' meetings.  This novel is as real as the headlines of today's underground press, yet remains a virile, rugged reflection of an era gone by.
