Churchill: The Life Triumphant
The Historical Record of Ninety Years
Compiled by American Heritage Magazine and United Press International
Introduction by Dwight D. Eisenhower

Publisher:  American Heritage Publishing Co, Inc.
Copyright:  1965

This is the historical record of the life of Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill -- spanning the ninety momentous years from his birth in the reign of Queen Victoria, through the upheavals of two world wars, to his death and the state funeral that marked the end of an era.

The book begins with a personal view of Churchill by his former comrade in arms Dwight D. Eisenhower.  The story of Sir Winston's extraordinary life is told in a narrative by Henry Anatole Grunwald, Senior Editor of Time Magazine.  Churchill's magnificent way with the English language is recaptured in evocative excerpts from his inspiring speeches and from the writings which won him the Nobel Prize for Literature.  And the concluding section shows the man and the statesman as he looked to his contemporaries:  Churchill is seen in comments from schoolmates, from colleagues and adversaries over the decades, and in the final euloges of world leaders.

The illustrations from an unparalleled photographic record of Churchill the child, youth, bridegroom, soldiers, member of parliament, wartime leader, prime minister, beloved elder statesman.  They are drawn from United Press International's files for more than forty years, from the picture archives of American Heritage, and from many private sources.  The thirty-two pages in full-color include a special eight-page color section that records the state funeral on January 30, 1965.
