The copyright of this book is listed in the book as: Copyright, 1953, by the President and Fellows of Harvard College. Below that is stated: Second printing, 1958. The title page states: Harvard University Press Cambridge Massachusetts 1958.The book has 573 pages of text, followed by black and white plates.
This is a large, and heavy book. Please note that it looks like water was dripped on this book. The front and back of the book cover have a darker area on them, and there is some rippling on the surface of the book cover. There is water damage to the plates at the back of the book. The pages start rippling very slightly at the top and the bottom, towards the very back of the book, but the text pages do not have any noticeable water damage, other than the very slight rippling. This rippling is so slight as to be unnoticeable, in my opinion. The water damage starts with the blank page that faces the black and white plates. The black and white plates have noticeable water damage to them. The water damage is at the top and the bottom. I have photographed that for the listing. The plates are still perfectly readable, however. There is a section of the plates that has come loose, and has separated from the rest of them. Please take note of this and do not purchase if it is a concern. In spite of the water damage, this is still a nice book, in my opinion. It is still perfectly readable and useable.
